If you’re looking for the sound of authentic Ireland, Tig Cóilí is the perfect place to begin. Situated in the heart of Galway’s famous Latin Quarter, it’s renowned for its nightly traditional Irish music sessions.
You’ll often find world-class musicians gathering for informal performances, creating the kind of atmosphere visitors dream about before arriving in Ireland. Grab a seat, order a pint of Guinness or a local craft beer, and simply enjoy the music.

Tigh Neachtain – A True Galway Landmark
Established in 1894, Tigh Neachtain is one of Galway’s most historic pubs. Family-owned for generations, it has retained its old-world charm while serving an excellent selection of Irish whiskey, craft beers and perfectly poured pints.
The outdoor seating area is ideal for watching the colourful life of Galway pass by, while the cosy interior is the perfect escape on a typical Irish afternoon.

The King’s Head – History, Food and Great Craic
Steeped in centuries of history, The King’s Head combines excellent food, live music and a welcoming atmosphere under one roof.
It’s a wonderful place to stop after exploring Galway’s medieval streets, and it’s equally popular with visitors and locals alike. Whether you’re enjoying fresh seafood, a hearty Irish stew or simply relaxing with a pint, you’ll understand why it remains one of Galway’s most popular pubs.
O’Connell’s Bar – Relaxed and Welcoming
Just a short walk from Eyre Square, O’Connell’s offers one of Galway’s finest outdoor spaces.
With its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beer garden, it’s the ideal place to unwind after exploring the city or returning from a scenic drive along the Wild Atlantic Way.
It’s one of those pubs where time seems to slow down, making it a favourite stop whenever I’m touring guests through Galway.
The Crane Bar – A Hidden Gem
For lovers of traditional Irish music, The Crane Bar is simply outstanding.
Less touristy than some of Galway’s larger venues, it offers an intimate setting where some of Ireland’s finest musicians regularly perform.
Many guests tell me afterwards that this became one of the most memorable evenings of their entire holiday.
